Most of Hazel Dell was built out around 1988, which means a big share of the openers still bolted to the ceiling out here are the same units that came with the house. A chain-drive opener from that era, running on the original 1/3-horsepower motor and worm gear, doesn't fail gently. The gear strips, the chain starts skipping, or the logic board just stops answering the wall button, and the door sits wherever it was when it quit. We come out from our Vancouver shop, about 4 miles away, so the door isn't down for days waiting on a part - we bring the opener with us and the install itself is usually a few hours, not an overnight job. If your opener is original to a 1988 build, we're not guessing at compatibility; that generation of hardware is well understood and we carry the mounting brackets and rail lengths that match it.
